"A Little Bit of Heaven"

Oil
24x36
Location: available from the artist
Original: $3100

During the late 18th century the frontier wilderness was a dangerous and uncertain place. Yet in the midst of such circumstances, individuals still found comfort in each other. These family ties along with the strength found in God's Word were important building blocks of our young nation.

In painting this portrait my goal was to illustrate the family strength between two sisters sitting together perhaps in the late evening with the older girl reading to the younger. The love and affection between the two sisters flow from the artwork as the younger leans into her older sister who looks on with tender care. The strength that is found in the Bible reinforces their faith and character; that fortitude will see them through the uncertain days ahead.
