Following His betrayal by Judas, Jesus suffered one of the most cruel and painful forms of execution the Roman rulers had devised ~ crucifixion. Although the realities of a crucifixion are unspeakable, the aspect most excruciating was the separation He experienced from His Father. "It Is Finished" is an attempt to illustrate the moment Christ realized His mission on earth was completed; the Father's will had been realized.
