Throughout
the ages artists have rendered scenes that reflect the affection
of a mother toward her child. Whether during the age of the Renaissance,
the Golden Age of illustration or the 21st Century, a child’s
contentment with that special mother’s touch has always
been a favorite subject.
During
the early morning hours, just after the sun had emerged from a
long night's rest, I happened upon a young mother and her son
walking through camp at Ft. Frederick National Park enjoying the
cool breeze of a new spring day. I have tried to capture the essence
of that encounter as well as the obvious love the two share. May
we never forget the innocence and wonder of the affections we
experience as young parents and as children.
